Think about it:
-All the prophets/messengers lived on this earth weren’t born with the faith they spread later.
-They had to think, wonder, analyze and “question” the existing faith to reach the new one.
-If they didn’t “question” anything, they wouldn’t have been what they are to us now.
-People followed them after they were convinced, convincing needed some “thinking” (both sides).
okay so far?!
-Now, we inherit our religion from our parents.
-We grow up learning about our faith and nothing about others.
-we take religion for granted.
so most of you would say yeah what’s wrong about it!
keep reading please
-Religious figures these days, consider it a sin if someone questions his/her faith (which s/he probably inherited before he was born).
-Religious figures blame the people for changing their faith (which they had by default).
now here are my points:
-If the respectful religious figures believe so much in the faith they are teaching, why are they afraid if anyone tried to think about what s/he got?!
-If they believe that this is the best choice (their faith), so thinking about it wouldn’t be a problem, right?!
-If someone made their fears come true by switching to another faith, then its their fault!!
-Because it’s their job to handle the convincing process.
-So blaming the people is bullshit where the these figures didn’t do their job well!
-I have the right to question everything in order to be a human being where what makes me special is my brain!!
-I don’t think god would want me to worship him blindly without questioning him first!
-Ibrahim asked god to show him how he brings life to the dead.
-Moses asked god to see him.
-These are messengers and they questioned god, why can’t we?!
Thank you very much!

I totally agree with you! I really believe that you do not belong to a religion unless YOU DECIDE TO CHOOSE IT given that you get the options of reading into and selecting others. (and I’m constantly criticized for that opinion!). I did that when I was 15, and so now I’m a Muslim by choice, out of my own free will, after spending 15 good years of my life being a ‘my parents taught me to pray when I was young, so I do it occasionally’ kind of person.
cool..i’m criticized for it too…i’m not alone 😀
and i’m so proud of you 😀
this post would complete my last post, i totally agree. But i have one note, we shouldn’t mix up being secular with being atheist. Secular people can be very deeply faithful for their sect but do not see their sect as a social identity, i mean they do not feel superior than other sects or do not feel that they are right and other sects will go to hell in an unquestionable manner, their religion or sect is a way and a language that they chose to worship God. And being secular is accepting the civil society as a whole and belonging to it as a whole irrespective of the religions and the sects that are part of it, and working for having laws and regulation that are trans-secterian and acceptable by all. So for me yes i’m asking people to become secular but i’m not asking them to become atheists. Secularism is our only way for a healthy society.
eh ofcourse I’m aware of the difference, but thanks for pointing it out here…
bas i chose the term secular because secular people don’t have problems with questioning their faith…as you said, they accept the civil society, therefore accept other sects…and they are more open to the ‘other’…and the most important thing, they THINK..or use their brain cells as you said in your post 🙂
atheists are only one sample of secularism…
ana my concern is the priests or sheikhs who oppose that thinking concerning the faith or religion…and it doesn’t affect secular people…
that’s why i chose the labels society and religion… i’m with secularism aslan 100%. we need a healthy society more than ever these days!!!
very amazing. you have to question any idea. Even our existence. Is our existence real or not?
roo7eh ya kbeereh :).
🙂
dancing solo, our existence?! i don’t know, even if we do…most of the people are passive..metel 2elleton 🙂
kodder, so true dear..so true 😛
Some huge problem if you raise this question to your parents for example, when they are from this type of people you are talking to. Just approaching this question will result in decreasing the danger of ethnic wars to a great scale.
Thanks for this post :).
problem is the secular parties are supporting this sectarian line-up
🙁
great points you raised
My parents are catholics but I’m not.
I have no religion (thank’s to my parents!). I’m just a human and I believe in humanity. That’s all!
