So the Egyptian blogger AbdelKarim is in jail now for insulting religions…and he’s going to stay like that for the following 4 years…I’m just wondering what are the consequences for that.

  • Will it stop him or change his beliefs?! I don’t think so, because according to his close friends, he was proud and strong and considered this as a proof to the tyranny of the regime he hates!
  • Will it stop bloggers from writing similar stuff? some might…but they won’t change their beliefs and many others will join.
  • Will he blog again when he’s out? I would really like to know the answer for that.

Personally, I’m against what happened and it doesn’t matter if I’m with what he said or not. Because if I’m against what he said, I should not make a big deal out of it because obviously he’s just a blogger talking about his personal experiences and he’s free to do that. And putting him in jail will make him talk more and will make more people listen to him (he’s very famous now) and might encourage others to talk too.
If I’m with what he said, also it would be it difficult to me (if I live there) to write the same or else I’ll end up just like him!

So AbdelKarim should be freed for the sake of both parties! and I find it hard to understand why do many hate him and at the same time they demand the “Freedom” of speech ! It’s like: “You have the right to say what you want as long as I agree with it!!”.
